Hmmmm… Things you need to know about me:
I’m a hippie.
I’m 5 years old now.
I like music.
Perhaps I should explain these things a bit better. I’m a hippie… from Saltspring Island. I grew up there, in a tree-fort (because houses on the ground that clash with the eco-system are not allowed… electricity is run by bicycle generators… someone rides the bike while someone else cooks the eggs… it’s exciting J). But seriously now… I moved to Vancouver when I was 18 to attend UBC, where I am now on my victory lap (5th year… last year… wohoo!) for an Arts degree in Political Science. What does this do for me? Hmm… still trying to figure that out. But, I do know a lot more now about how the political goes down, so it’s pretty interesting for me. I’ve been busy and involved over this time, getting into a Christian club, debate in various avenues, travelling to Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Switzerland and France, as well as working to try and make ends meet. It’s an adventure, sometimes exhausting.
What I mean by being 5 years old is that life started over for me 5 years ago when I met Yeshua (Jesus). I was learning about Him for about 9 months, but it took me a while to come around. I was just about 18, and in that time before I met Him, I did lots of stuff that wasn’t necessarily… hmmm… good. Whether related to sex, alcohol, or just general “loving your neighbour” stuff, there were a few value systems that had been twisted over that period of time. In any case, details are available if you want to know more about the “dark side.”
As you may have figured out by now, I play guitar. I’ve been playing guitar for as long as I’ve known Yeshua… in fact, it was within days of meeting Him that I picked up the geetar… kind of an odd turn of events, but interesting. In any case, I started to lead music in a worship setting about 9 months after I started playing, and I’ve been at it ever since, learning about what WORSHIP is, and what it looks like with notes attached… my thoughts on this subject are vast, so come and ask me about them sometime; however, I will say this: worship (in a general way) is the only thing that we can give to God that He doesn’t already have from us… God allows Himself to be AFFECTED by us. Wow. Think about that.
